Run For Cover
<Advertorial>
Run for Cover is happening this Saturday 21st June 13:30 to 22 June 15:00 at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza! I would be the social media booster for this meaningful event so expect live updates for the event on all my social media platforms. Run for Cover is Singapore's first 24 hour thread mill challenge organised by Mount Elizabeth Hospital (MEH). The goal is to form a team of 8 and clock as much distance as possible in 24 hours. In addition, the winning team wins themselves 10 years worth of free health coverage. On the event day itself, every 30km clocked by each team will be translated into free treatment for a needy elderly suffering from cataract. This is funded by Khazanah IHH Healthcare Fund and the surgery would be done at MEH. Meaningful isn't it?! You get to keep yourself healthy and also able to help those in a need get a free surgery. You can do your part in helping as well even without running on the public threadmill (see below). Just come on down to Takashimaya any time from 21 June to 22nd June 3pm and take a photo (hashtag #runforcoversg, #mountelizabeth and include keywords "24 hour threadmill challenge"). Every photo taken with the hahtags would be equivalent to 100m virtual mileage! You can play a part in this meaningful event so I hope to see you there! :) For more information, visit runforcover.sg ! (SGT) Friday, June 13, 2014
I need to CHILL when the weather is CRAZY
Holidays can be boring if you are neither going overseas nor working. To exacerbate the entire situation, Singapore's temperature is skyrocketing and humidity level hits close to 90%!
So what's the remedy? Go find yourself a cool and cool place to chill and have a hearty brunch AND desserts.
1. Group Therapy Cafe (Duxton)
Mon - Thu: 11:00 - 18:00
Fri - Sat: 11:00 - 23:00
Sun: 11:00 - 17:00
Just a mere 7 minutes walk from Tanjong Pagar station. Group Therapy is located on the 2nd floor along Duxton Hill.
Group Therapy started out for events purposes like media launches and parties. Inferring from the name itself, this cafe is awesome for your group of friends to gather and chill not only because the cafe is cosy, but because of the delicious and mouth-watering food as well.
The decorations are simple and doesn't gives a stressful environment for the consumers.
To be really honest, they serve one of the best food among all other cafes I've been to thus far.
Their beans are 100% Arabica beans which are grounded on premise for every cup.
While their All Day breakfast is a MUST HAVE, I personally recommend this pancakes (shown below). Those with sweet-tooth would definitely love this! Even if you are not, you dont't have to worry because the sweetness is just right.
The shepherd's pie is decent but you might get sick of it if you are finishing it alone. Thus, I recommend you to share this with your friend if you are ordering it.
In general, Group Therapy cafe is one awesome cafe to chill with your group of friends. Nice price, Nice food and Nice environment. I would definitely be back here again soon!
#01-02, Seng Kee Building, 20 Martin Road Fri- Sat: 8.30am - 12am Sun- Thurs: 8.30am - 10.30pm Surrounded by shelves of books and magazines and the quiet ambiance (almost like a mini library), it is one perfect place for you to chill on a lazy afternoon and to keep out from the scorching sun. In addition, the cafe opens till 12am on Friday and Saturday.
Nice setting and a diverse range of reading materials for you to choose! Not forgetting there is free WiFi and power points too! But be sure to get the sofa seats for extra comfort.
3. Dean and Deluca
Orchard Central, Level 4
11am - 10pm daily
Legs feeling tired after shopping for hours in Orchard Road? Dean and Deluca has a perfect ambiance and serve very nice drinks.
Their specialty is actually their waffle which my friends and myself did not try. So maybe you guys can check it out and tell me how it tastes like!
Eggs Iberico. Consisting of 2 poached eggs with sauteed mushrooms, Jamon Iberico and hollandaise sauce on sun-dried tomato bread. This is possibly the nicest out of all we ordered.
New Yorker Smoked Salmon that costs $20.
That said, their drinks are totally worth a mention.
Also, they do not have any service charges. :)
4. Lady M
#02-103, Marina Square Shopping Mall
Daily: 11am - 9pm (Be there early or the ackes would be sold out!)
Roughly $7.50 - $10 per slice
Other than awesome, it's still awesome. Look at all these pretty cakes. The one that caught my eyes first was the Checker. It really looks pretty but it was just a vanilla and chocolate sponge cake so we decided to give it a miss.
We tried the Green Tea Mille Crepes and the Strawberry Shortcakes (the gals love them idk why).
The Green Tea Crepe was like the BEST thing on earth! We decided to order another Vanilla Crepe but it was SOLD OUT. God damn, so please be early if you really want to try these popular cakes.
Just me posing with the cakes. I sure look happy! Oh ya, the top I'm wearing only cost me $3.
Where to find luh you tell me! :D
A closeup of the cakes we ordered. The layers of vanilla sponge cake with strawberries meld and marry together to form a perfect union creating this awesome pastries.
The fine green tea powder infused into every element of the delicate crepe still lingers in my mouth till now.
Cannot really remember the name of this cake but it is their weekly special. A little bit too chocolaty for my liking.
5. MINDS Cafe 60A Prinsep Street Mon - Thurs: 2pm - 11pm Fri - Sat: 2pm - 3am Sun: 2pm - 11pm The Mind Cafe is a good place to chill and hangout after lunching with your friends. They offer a wide variety of board games for rental while you eat and laugh with them. So cute right the place! They got many standard packages that you can choose from. I would recommend the Happy Hour Package which costs only $11.90. With that amount, you are entitled to 4 hours of gaming and free flow of house-pour drinks. You just need to top up $4.90 for any desserts of your choice and it is totally worth it!
The staffs are really patient when they are teaching you to board games too.
We played various games like Taboo and other nonsense.
This is like one of my favorite no-brainer games. My friend says it's my game cos I'm a himbo. -.-
TUMBLIN'MONKEYS!! I don't understand - it's such a simple game but I keep losing. Guess luck is not with me!
Tiki Topple is a game that the staff recommended and it was really very fun. Go try this. It requires some thinking and manipulating other players. It is simple to learn but yet still offers challenges every time you play.
and TADA... OF COURSE A GROUP PHOTO TO END THE DAY!

Sundown 42.195km - Achievement Unlocked
I just finished my first ever full marathon on 1st June! That's right, I joined the Sundown 42.195km Marathon and to be honest, it was really really tough and it requires a lot of determination and energy.
Okay... I admit I was the main culprit. I was the one that told my friends to join the full marathon cos #YOLO !!!
Initially, we really ran 6-10km daily. However, we were so busy where it reaches a point whereby I didn't even run for one whole week. This basically summarize how I felt before, during and after the run!
We started the marathon on a high until the 20km mark! Still can take picture with the 20km sign. LOL!
But after that, I kept cursing and swearing. Every step was so painful. It's like I can't sit, squat or stop. I was like Fuck my Life and why did I sign up for this shit!
But we persevered and really appreciate my bros for encouraging me to push on. It requires a bit of insanity at some point to pull through this. Really a test of my endurance! Every kilometer seems like eternity. I was so happy when I saw this 40km sign! But it was a scam, it was definitely like 3km more before I reached the finishing point :(
One of the takeaway for this marathon. Beautiful isn't it?
I KOUP THIS PICTURE FROM THE WEBSITE. HAHA
Our timing sucks but I guess we get A+ for effort. It's about finishing the race, encouraging each other and have the NEVER SAY DIE spirit that is more instrumental isn't it?
Sorry for shag face! HAHA
YAY! WE DID IT!! #butfirstletustakeaselfie (I look so fair here for some reason, maybe pale?)
Before the race, when we were all still energetic.
And our loyal supporter!! :) Thanks Lilian for popping by to encourage us! :D
Kudos to the Sundown Committee for the organisation though there was lack of 100 plus at some hydration station. A selfie after finishing the race with my medal! Achievement unlocked and I'm really very happy that I made it out ALIVE! So shag I can barely feel my legs.
I was damn tired but yes! I DID IT!
Always remember, Mind over body!!
If I can complete this marathon, so can YOU! :)
