Clover Films Blogger Event I was invited to Clover Films’ first ever blogger event at Fullerton Hotel last Saturday. It was such an honour as I got to know more bloggers and learn more about Cloverfilms and Asian films too. I would really like to thank them for organising such a light-hearted event with great food and hospitality. There is even a lucky draw at the end of the event (though I didn’t win L ). Congrats to the lucky three winners still!
Winner of the Grand Prize
In recent years, consumers, especially teenagers, do not
visit the theatres as frequent as they used to be. The reason is very simple:
Wait for a few weeks and you can torrent it FOC! However, we should keep in
mind that by doing so, we are endangering the longevity of this business and
that there is a need for consumers to support them in theatres in order for
them to constantly come out with better productions. Also, it is strongly
evident that Asian films (including local) are also going down in comparison
with Hollywood movies.
Personally, I watched plenty of Hollywood movies
because of the great effects (even though the story line may be atrocious).
Also I’m not forgetting great actors and actresses like Tom Cruise, Johnny
Depp, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence…
Albeit Hollywood films might be the more popular choice, there are actually plenty of great and awesome Asian movies too. One example would be a movie that I just watched 2 weeks ago called Café. Waiting. Love. Asian movies are special in a sense that it is subtle, funnier and have better story lines. Asian films are also more family-friendly. As many may argue that Singapore movies might not be up to standard, we actually do have a lot of films that are uniquely-Singapore like Jack Neo’s Ah Boys to Men 1 and 2 that grossed more than $14 million in total. Michelle Chong’s Already Famous and 3 Peas in a Pod also shows that Singapore films can be exported to other Asian countries. Other quality local production includes 23:59, Ghost Child and Filial Party.
Let me now give you some facts about Clover Films.
Clover
Films was established in 2009 are specializes in both distribution and production
of Asian movies, emphasising on Singapore and Malaysia markets. It
acquires and distributes quality movies from all over the world with the belief
in its potential and talent. In addition, they also collaborate with many
highly recognised directors and producers too.
Clover Films has already distributed more than 100 movies.
One of which is CZ12 by Jackie Chan. In case you don’t know, CZ12 is actually
the highest-grossing Chinese movie in the history of Singapore. I watched it
before and I really got to say it is really a must watch. It is packed with
lots of action and comedy.
Right now, I would be introducing the movies that Clover
Films would be bringing to you from October ’14 to March ’15. (Sorted by date)

Why should you watch this?
Admit it. You never
expected Jam Hsiao to act in a movie as the first male lead because you thought he only knows how to rock on stage. It would be something refreshing and

her life and the lives of those around her.
Why should you watch?
This film features our
very own princess, Jesseca Liu. Just by the trailer itself, I got to applaud
her acting skills. The
story line is quite similar to ‘The Eyes Diary’ so I guess it would be up to
the director as well as the acting skills that would determine which film is a
better one. Also, it features Liu LingLing (One of my favorite local
comedian). I think it’s gonna add a little bit of humour during the entire
duration.
